ORIENT EXPRESS
Art Direction: Maxime d’Angeac
For the Orient Express Corinthian, Mlle Mouns designed three custom-illustrated maps, now integrated into the restaurant and bar L’Encre: two world maps dedicated to Europe and Africa and the Americas, as well as a celestial map inspired by mythology and constellations.
Conceived as true narrative works, these creations reinterpret the spirit of great illustrated maps through Mlle Mouns’s universe, blending travel, geography, history, and imagination.
Iconic monuments, explorers, historical figures, fauna, vegetation, mythology, and references specific to each region compose landscapes teeming with detail. Against a deep blue background evoking the sea and sky, the emblematic stars of the Orient Express transform into luminous showers, punctuating the compositions.
Each map is designed to be explored slowly, inviting the eye to travel from one detail to the next and to discover new stories as it is observed.
Three works, somewhere between cartography and illustration, created specifically for the world of the Yacht Corinthian Orient Express.
